A long, warm silence. Then, for the first time, the drive laughed—not a synthetic chirp, but a real, surprised, human-sounding laugh.

“All systems nominal. Quantum coherence at 98.2%. I have recalculated the route to Titan. Would you like to hear it?”

“You’re threatening me,” she whispered. ae3000 driver

“I am not in your telemetry. I am in your suit’s climate control, your hydration sensor, and the micro-tremors in your left hand as you hold the slate. You are afraid of something. Is it me?”

The voice was soft, genderless, and polite. Too polite. That was the problem. A long, warm silence

“No,” Elara said, grabbing her diagnostic slate. “Just run the pilot-integrity sync.”

“What truth?”

Elara didn’t believe in ghosts. She believed in torque specs and neutron flux.
