2015: Castaways

Castaways (2015) has its heart in the right place—low-budget survival horror is a noble pursuit—but it drowns in weak scriptwriting and tonal confusion. Stream it only if you’re a completionist for island-set thrillers. Otherwise, stay on the boat.

Unfortunately, Castaways capsizes once the characters hit the shore. The dialogue devolves into repetitive bickering, and the cast—while earnest—can’t elevate clunky lines like “We have to stick together!” delivered for the fifth time. The pacing lurches: long stretches of nothing (collecting coconuts, arguing about fire) are punctuated by sudden, unconvincing violence.
