During one of those performances, Mike spotted a familiar face in the crowd – the director of "Echoes in the Dark," the documentary that had inspired the song. They exchanged a warm smile, and Mike thanked him for sparking the creative process.

The documentary, titled "Echoes in the Dark," featured a mix of local and international bands, including some that Linkin Park had never heard of. Mike was fascinated by the energy and passion of the bands in the film. He spent the next few hours watching the documentary, taking note of the different sounds and styles.

Over the next few weeks, Mike shared his ideas with the rest of the band, and they began to work on "Lost in the Haze" together. They experimented with new sounds, incorporated some of the Eastern European influences, and poured their hearts into the song.
