The team is catering a Sweet Sixteen for Taylor Stiltskin, a spoiled teen whose dad is a very shady (probably mobbed-up) businessman. Henry (Adam Scott) is doing his usual "I was almost famous" mope. Roman (Martin Starr) is writing terrible sci-fi dialogue on napkins. And Kyle (Ryan Hansen) sees the party as a casting call.

Is “Taylor Stiltskin’s Sweet Sixteen” the best episode of Party Down ? No. That’s “Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh” or “Stennheiser-Pong Wedding.”

And it was glorious.

Last night, I revisited not on a 4K OLED, but on a compressed, artifact-riddled video file that looked like it was recorded off a TiVo from 2004.

But watching it in 240p strips away any pretension. You’re not watching a “show.” You’re watching a surveillance feed of the American Dream’s waiting room. Every blurry frame asks the same question: How did we end up here, serving shrimp to people half our age?

Don’t actually seek out 240p. But if you find a dusty hard drive with a pirated season 1… keep it. As a reminder. We are all Ron Donald trying to sell Steak ‘n’ Cake in a low-res world.

Then Ron walks by, covered in trash, his franchise deal dead on arrival.

3 out of 5 sad balloon animals. 🎈🎈🎈 Are we having fun yet?
