Jenn’s personal life is still fragile. Her stepson, Kieran, hasn’t spoken to her since the previous case. Her partner, Chris, tries to bridge the gap, but the silence at the dinner table is louder than the bay’s winter wind.
In the episode’s final ten minutes, Jenn re-interviews Nina, who finally cracks. “Carl knew what happened to Leah Firth,” Nina whispers. “He saw something the night she vanished. He said if Danny pushed the development, he’d tell the police everything. Danny didn’t kill Carl for the land. He killed him to keep the secret — or to avenge Leah.”
At the station, DS Karen Hobson — now retired from active duty but consulted as a civilian — sits across from Jenn with a folder. “Carl was into land development,” Karen says. “He wanted to build luxury flats on the old fish market site. But someone else wanted that land more.”
