"Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" is a novel by John le Carré, published in 1974. The story revolves around George Smiley, a retired MI6 agent, who is brought back in to uncover a mole within the organization. The title is a reference to a children's nursery rhyme:

The novel was adapted into a BBC miniseries in 1975, starring Alec Guinness as George Smiley. A more recent BBC miniseries, starring Gary Oldman as Smiley, was released in 2011.
