Author: Typographic Studies Department Date: April 14, 2026 Abstract In the crowded ecosystem of digital and print typography, few contemporary typefaces balance technical precision with humanist warmth. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of Ultrex , a neo-grotesque sans-serif typeface developed for cross-media applications. Through examination of its historical context, anatomical characteristics, technical specifications, and comparative performance, this study argues that Ultrex represents a significant evolution in the geometric sans-serif tradition. The paper concludes that Ultrex’s unique synthesis of modular construction and optical compensation makes it particularly suited for extended reading in digital environments.
