Joe confronts Benji in the cage. Benji initially tries to bargain, insult, and manipulate Joe, but Joe remains calm and methodical. Benji admits he left Peach’s body in a park, but Joe doesn’t fully believe him. Meanwhile, Joe must keep his relationship with Beck (Guinevere Beck) on track while hiding the fact that her ex-lover is trapped in his basement.

Joe and Beck’s relationship intensifies. Beck is still reeling from Peach’s “suicide” (the official story Joe fabricated) and leans on Joe for emotional support. Joe plays the caring boyfriend while secretly drugging Benji’s food and water to keep him docile. Beck invites Joe to a literary party hosted by her professor, Dr. Nicky . At the party, Joe becomes jealous when Beck flirts with Dr. Nicky, planting seeds of future conflict.

Benji manages to partially free himself from the cage’s restraints and uses a hidden metal shank to attack Joe when he enters. Joe subdues him but realizes Benji is becoming too dangerous. Joe decides to kill Benji, but first, he needs the truth about Peach’s body. He threatens to torture Benji with a blowtorch (used for book binding), and Benji finally confesses: he left Peach’s body in the Hudson River , weighed down with rocks. Joe confirms the location and, later, quietly disposes of Benji’s body in the same river after killing him with an overdose of the drugs he’d been using.

Original Air Date: October 9, 2018 Story Summary The episode picks up immediately after the events of Episode 4. Joe Goldberg has locked his neighbor, Benji , inside the soundproof glass cage in the basement of the bookstore where Joe works. Joe’s plan: force Benji to reveal where he disposed of the body of Peach Salinger (whom Joe killed after she threatened to expose him to Beck).
