Sheldon says nothing, but he leaves his toast untouched, sliding it toward George. In Austin, they find the comic book store — a dusty gem of a place. Sheldon finds his issues. But while waiting, George notices a jewelry shop next door. Inside, a simple gold band catches his eye. He tries it on. Sheldon looks at her. “I was scared my family would die.” Cut to black

Sheldon adjusts his glasses. “I’m not most brothers.” The sky shifts dramatically — a 4K transition from amber to bruise-purple. A tornado warning blares on TV. George Sr. runs inside, yelling for everyone to get to the storm cellar. In the chaos, Sheldon freezes, calculating wind speeds and debris trajectories. Georgie grabs him by the collar and drags him down. Sheldon says nothing, but he leaves his toast

George laughs — a real laugh. “Yeah. Something like that.” Back in Medford, the house is still damaged, but Mary has patched the worst of it. George hands her the ring in private — not on one knee, but with two tired hands, holding hers. She cries. He almost does too.

“That’s not what I asked.”

George sighs. “That’s not how fear works, son.”
